Antony (Tony) Bishop is a Partner based in Auckland, New Zealand. Prior to GRC, he was a joint Managing Partner of the iGlobe Treasury venture capital fund. Prior to iGlobe Treasury, Tony was a founder of Treasury Group Ltd, focusing on investment banking activities in the Asia Pacific region. He has a B.C.A degree from Victoria University and is a chartered accountant.
Tony is a Council member of the NZ Private Equity & Venture Capital Association and has been a director of a number of technology companies.
Ben Chou is a Partner of GRC Fund. He identifies technology mega trends and works together with entrepreneurs to build startup businesses into great companies. Ben specializes in cross-border deals in the Silicon Valley, China, Hong Kong, and Taiwan. He serves as board director of portfolio companies and has led many of them to successful IPO or acquisition exits. Ben’s investment areas include green technology, cloud computing, hardware components, and bio-medical industries.
Ben began his career as a Product Manager at IBM and worked for AT&T Solutions in Asia Pacific before he joined the venture capital industry in 2000.
Langley Chen is a Vice President of GRC Fund, focusing on the investment initiatives in energy, materials, and biosciences. He works with global entrepreneurs to build up great companies with promising technologies, from vehicle electrification to genomic sequencing. He joined GRC Fund in 2012. Prior to that, he was with Taiwan Stock Exchange Corporation (TWSE) conducting industrial studies and corporate strategy planning. Prior to TWSE, he worked with BASF Venture Capital Asia-Pacific Division, where he was responsible for technology scouting and industry landscaping.
Langley is a trained chemical engineer, holding a Bachelor’s degree from National Taiwan University with additional Biotechnology program; he also completed his business training at HEC Paris.
Brooke Dong is a Senior Investment Director of GRC Fund. She is a Venture Technologist with deep understanding of scientific innovations and hands-on experiences commercializing inventions across a broad spectrum of technologies, including industrial automation and drives, alternative energies and energy efficiency technologies, medical instruments and diagnostics equipment, etc. She is multicultural and operates fluidly within the Chinese, American, and European scientific, entrepreneurial, and corporate communities.
Brooke was born and raised in China where she attended Beijing Information Technology University. She received her Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Rochester in the USA.
Benjamin Jen is the Founder and Managing Partner of GRC Fund. His expertise includes corporate strategy, business development, product marketing, and investment portfolio management.Before founding GRC (Grand River Capital), Benjamin worked for Quanta Group (TWSE 2382) for more than 12 years. He also was the Business Development General Manager of Gintech Energy (TWSE 3514) and Vice Chairman of Danen Technology (TWSE 3686).
Benjamin holds a Master in Technology Management from the Sloan School of Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and a Bachelor of Science in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the University Missouri, Columbia.
Herb Lin is a Venture Partner of GRC Fund and the President of ITIC (Industrial Technology Investment Corporation) with over 26 years of experience in venture capital investment, hi-tech marketing and IC design. Previously, Herb was a Senior Vice President at WK Technology Fund, Asia vest Fund and Intel Capital, leading investments in semiconductors, networking, software and biotech in the US, Japan, Taiwan, China, and Southeast Asia. Before becoming a venture capitalist, Herb was the APAC Regional Marketing Manager at Intel Corporation.
Herb graduated from National Taiwan University in Bio-industrial Mechatronics Engineering, and then pursued graduate studies in the USA. He received a Master of Science in Electrical Engineering at the University of Missouri, and was a Ph.D. candidate in Electrical Engineering in Santa Clara University.
Lizzie Lee is a Vice President of GRC Fund. She invests at the intersection of healthcare, device, technology, and data. She is passionate about the discovery of new drug approaches, digitalization of healthcare, genomics, innovative medical instruments, synthetic biology, personalized nutrition, and other deep sciences. On top of leading the Fund’s investments, Lizzie also helps in maintaining the long-term relationships with our investors on the basis of transparency and trust.
Prior to joining GRC Fund in 2014, Lizzie was an investment professional at Sinopac Venture Capital and Singapore family office fund Enspire Capital, where she sourced and led multiple early stage technology investments across Silicon Valley, China, and Taiwan. She graduated from London School of Economics with a Master of Science in Finance.
Sin Jat Lai is a Senior Vice President of GRC Fund based in Auckland, New Zealand. Prior to joining GRC, he was a Partner of the iGlobe Treasury Fund in Auckland, and previously an Associate at an affiliated iGlobe Partners Fund in Singapore.
Prior to fund management, Sin Jat worked for the Singapore government’s R&D and co-investment fund before joining a VoIP start-up. He earned his Bachelor of Engineering (Electrical) from National University of Singapore, and an MBA from UCLA.
Dr. Eric Wang is a Managing Partner of GRC Fund with over 18 years of experience in venture capital investment, investment banking and equity research. Previously, Dr. Wang was a Managing Director at WK Technology Fund, leading investments in semiconductors, networking and software in Silicon Valley, USA and the greater China.
Before becoming a venture capitalist, Dr. Wang was the Global Head of Semiconductor Research at ABN AMRO Bank. Dr. Wang holds a Ph.D. in Engineering-Economic Systems and Operations from Stanford University, a Master of Science in Electrical Engineering from University of Hawaii and a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from National Tsing Hua University.
Victor is a Partner of GRC Fund. Previously, Victor was a Founder and Senior Managing Partner at Sinova Capital Limited, an investment boutique that serves high quality, corporate finance as well as merger and acquisition advisory services for middle market companies.
In his earlier years, Victor held positions as the Managing Director of China S&T Investment Advisors Co., Ltd., the Senior Advisor for a State-level Key Project on “Building up China’s Venture Capital Market System and Growth Enterprise Board”, and as the Vice President of Lazard Asia Limited. Mr. Wang was also a Consultant of the International Group Division to Montgomery Securities in San Francisco.
Blaine Ah Yuk-Winters is an Analyst of GRC Fund based in Auckland, New Zealand. Prior to joining GRC, he was a Project Manager overseeing the drug development program for a biotech start-up developing a therapeutic for atopic dermatitis under the US FDA. He also worked as a Business Analyst evaluating investment opportunities by undertaking market validation, financial modelling, and intellectual property assessment for private NZ investment group.
Blaine obtained a Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Sciences and Master of Bioscience Enterprise (First Class Honors) from the University of Auckland.
Dr. James Zhang is a Partner of GRC Fund, currently serving as Centrillion Technology’s Chief Strategy Officer. Before joining GRC Fund, he was a founding partner at Formation 8, a Silicon Valley based venture capital fund with over $1B under management and an early backer of unicorns like Oculus VR, Wish.com, and Oscar. As a biotechnologist, Dr. Zhang was a co-founder of BioConsortia and founding member of Mendel Biotechnology.
Dr. Zhang has a Ph.D. in Genetics from the University of California Davis and completed his post-doctoral and business training at Stanford University and the Stanford Graduate School of Business, respectively.
